Dozens of rescuers built up a slope for a trapped baby elephant to climb out of a two-metre-deep mud hole in southwestern China.

The video, shot in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan province on June 3, shows a baby elephant trying to escape the mud pit but failing.

Another clip shows the elephant finally climbing out of the hole at night through a slope that was built up by a loader.

According to reports, 38 rescuers, one drone and one loader were sent to save the elephant.

6月3日18时53分，景洪市大渡岗乡人民政府接乡林政资源管理站报告，位于大渡岗乡大荒坝村委会金银花村小组大桥（大荒坝小学背后800米左右）处，一头野象掉入老百姓坚果地挖的水坑里。因水坑底部的水形成泥潭，大象无法自行爬出。
接到消息后，大渡岗乡各负责人立刻带队赶往现场开展野象营救工作。随后，景洪市林业和草原局局长冯卫东和市森林公安局局长刘琨分别带队赶赴现场救援。



其后，现场共有景洪市林业和草原局、市森林公安局、大渡岗乡党委政府、乡林政资源管理站、驻村护林员、村民38人参加救援，在用无人机观察周边无象群（确定象群10头在救援点3公里以外），保证救援工作安全的情况下，使用1台挖机、1台装载机开展救援。在救援人员的共同努力、全力营救下，用挖机在坑潭侧边推出了一条斜坡使大象自行走出坑潭，于当晚20时43分成功营救出野象。野象得到救援后，现场迅速撤离救援人员，无人员伤亡。
此次救援工作共用了1台无人机、1台挖机、1台装载机，共38人参加救援。
