This is the shocking moment a mother casually dumps her newborn baby boy in a dustbin then rides away on her motorcycle.

The woman, named only as Waraporn, 29, gave birth on June 5 in her apartment in Samut Prakan, central Thailand, before looking for a place to abandon the baby.

CCTV footage shows the mother riding a moped to a neighbouring city, with with her seven-year-old standing in the footwell. She then parks the red vehicle in front of the industrial dumpster bin which is surrounded by piles of rubbish.

Mother-of-five Waraporn was seen getting off the motorbike carrying a black package before dropping it behind the dustbin. She then drove away while looking over her shoulders to ''check nobody was following''.

A pedestrian seen in the CCTV did not notice the infant. He was left in the heat for around four until a bin man came to collect the waste and found him inside the grey bag.

The newborn was wrapped in a towel with clothes and still had his umbilical cord attached. The man then called the police and the rescuers, who rushed the infant to Sampran hospital.

Police from Pho Kaew district police station began investigating and studying the CCTV, which led them to Waraporn’s location on June 6.

The young mom was found suffering from an unhealthy childbirth, languishing, cramping and bleeding excessively. The police then had to take her to Sampran Hospital.

She admitted abandoning her own child because she already had four children and a fifth was too much. She did not have enough money for food and milk to afford all children.

Waraporn said: ''My husband is a driver in another province. He only earns 10,000 baht a month which is not enough to raise a big family.

''I gave birth to him in the toilet and I had to cut the umbilical cord myself before I left the baby in Sampran district.

''I didn’t mean to kill him. I left him there and hoped someone would find him and take care of him.

''I was worried somebody would see me so I left quickly. I regret what I did.''

Police said the mother had been charged with abandoning a child under nine years of age. Social workers would not assess whether the child should be in the mother's custody or not.
