Galapagos ecotourism takes a toll on local marine life.
Unfortunately this turtle in the Galapagos did not die of natural causes. You can see boat propeller marks on its shell. It just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and is now part of the eco system for other life.
There is a topic for discussion here on the delicate line where tourism starts to have a negative effect on what we are trying to protect. We need tourism to fuel awareness. At some point, the tourism can become the #1 thing that is harmful to the area being preserved.
