A man had a miraculous escape after struggling to keep afloat in an extremely rough condition off Cabo De Rama beach in western India's Goa state, a popular tourist destination.

Visuals showed a helicopter rescuing the man. The said copter belonged to the Indian Coast Guard, who flew in after being alert of the man's struggle. After locating the man, a rope was dropped in for him to latch on to. After he got hold of it, the unit slowly moved him out of the sea.

Reports said the man, who is yet to be identified, was swept out to sea as struggled to get back to shore.

Had it not for the marathon rescue, the man would have likely ended up dead.

Following the rescue, the unit rushed him to a hospital. His condition is said to be stable.

Tweeting about it, the Indian Coast Guard said, " A person swept out to sea by strong waves in an extremely rough weather conditions off Cabo-de-Rama beach #Goa was rescued by winching up in a swift & dare devil operation by @IndiaCoastGuard helicopter today. Survivor evacuated to hospital &is safe."
