An invasive species of fish is caught and eaten by a queen triggerfish in a gruesome attack filmed off the coast of Cuba

The diver was in the Caribbean Sea, off Cayo Anclitas, when he captured the rare moment, in June 2018, a poisonous lionfish was eaten by a fish that isn't a shark or grouper.

Todd, who filmed this attack, claimed: "This is the first recorded sighting of a fish, other than shark or grouper, eating a lionfish."

The lionfish has destroyed most of the ecosystems in the Caribbean Sea and throughout Florida, and has no natural predators.

The filmer commented: "This is a positive sign that life can adapt and start finding ways to restore balance to the reef ecosystems."

Efforts in Cuba are being taken to teach apex predators like Reef Sharks and Grouper to eat the Lionfish by spearing the Lionfish and feeding it to the sharks. This time a Queen Triggerfish has taken advantage of the easy meal. THIS IS THE FIRST RECORDED SIGHTING OF A FISH, OTHER THAN A SHARK OR GROUPER, EATING A LIONFISH!!!
