This was the moment a group of students dangerously travelling on top of a moving bus fell onto the road as the driver slammed the brakes in southern India.

The students were celebrating ‘Bus Day’ when the incident happened on July 17 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu state.

Footage shows the party-goers falling off the roof of a bus after the driver stopped the vehicle.

At least 20 students have been arrested by Chennai Police following the accident.

Every year students in Chennai celebrate ‘Bus Day’, an event in which students party in buses that ferry them to and from universities.

College students put their lives at risk and also the lives of public passengers in the name of bus day celebrations.

According to police on Monday morning (17th June) when college reopened after summer vacation group of students of Pachayappa college in Chennai climbed atop of on an MTC bus ( route number 47 A) and started dancing and sat on bus and started celebration. Suddenly a bike came in front of bus and bus driver applied brake and students fell on road. Later Chennai police apprehended 24 students For travelling on roof of bus and creating nuisance on public transport ,there parents were summoned and students were let off with stern warning
Every year students bus day celebration twice . It's a custom of students to celebrate their route bus which they travel. Some students even but new clothes and gifts to bus driver and conductor on the day. Students decorate their route bus and raise slogans of their respective college.
