Strange scenes prevailed inside a school in India's northern Jammu and Kashmir state, where at least 50 students displayed symptoms of unusual behaviour.

The incident took place on June 14 at Bani Government High School in Kathua district of the state.

Visuals showed students, both male and female, wailing and making strange noises. Some students also rolled on the ground, covered themselves in dust and pleaded to authorities.

It wasn't clear what the students tried to convey.

Another video showed students sitting around an incense burner, wailing.

Meanwhile, as soon as the incident reached administrators, a team of doctors were rushed to the spot.

However, after a thorough check up of the affected students, the doctors deemed them physically fit.

Speaking about the incident, a team of psychologists have prescribed counselling for the students.

School authorities have said if such incidents occur, they will face a problem running the school, where over 300 students study.
