A herd of elephants appeared to mourn their deceased friend by nudging and resting their trunks of the body in Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.

Vultures watched over the animal, who died of unknown causes, and two lions were in the grass nearby as the line of elephants marched up to investigate.

The travel photographer commented that witnessing the moment, captured in March 2018, was "a very moving experience."

As a travel photographer and film maker, I've witnessed many unusual things, but to see elephants appear to mourn another is a very moving experience. I came across this scene in Tanzania, Serengeti National Park. I don't know how the elephant died, but then neither did the other elephants.
