A video has emerged of a groom falling down from his horse while performing a marriage ritual in western India.

The incident took place on Mar 20 in Navsari district of Gujarat state.

Visuals showed a large number of people gathering to see the ritual of Varghodo, in which the groom sits on a horse and proceeds towards the bride's place.

However, it went pear-shaped during the course of the exercise.

With the groom on top, the horse was made to climb a cot which was held high by a group of men, understandably his friends and relatives.

Though the steed managed to do it successfully the first time, it slipped while doing it the next time, bringing down the groom along with it.

As he fell, people around quickly rushed to tend the groom.

This is not the first time such an incident has taken place, in fact, marriage fails such as this one is common.
