A couple narrowly escaped death after a broken water pipe tilting up the ground impaling through their car in southern China.

The terrifying moment, filmed in Shangrao city, Jiangxi province on June 16, shows an over a-dozen-metre-long underground water pipe tilting up from the road and impaling a car.

According to reports, the broken water pipe had been exposed above the ground for three days.

Mr Zheng, the driver, was taking his wife to work when their car was impaled by the pipe.

Fortunately, the water pipe missed the couple and no one was injured.

Zheng has called the police and the case is being investigated.

6月16日，上饶车主郑先生驾车行驶至上饶经开区聚远路时，撞上一根裸露在地面的断裂水管，管子直插小轿车底部，贯穿车辆，刺破天窗。
当天上午，家住上饶县的郑先生正开车送妻子去上班，当小车行驶至上饶经开区聚远路时，撞上路面一根长达十几米、直径10公分左右的水管。水管从轿车底部插入，贯穿车辆，刺破天窗，整个过程只有几秒钟。
据上饶创新线缆工程有限公司的员工介绍，聚远路来往车辆较多，各类车型都有，这根水管已经断开裸露在地表两三天了，一直无人修缮管理。
“幸运的是，我们夫妻俩都没有受伤，（水管）稍微偏一点，后果不堪设想，”郑先生如是说：“这下损失不小了，保守估计（修车）都要2、3万元。”

目前，郑先生已经报警，具体还在进一步处理中。
