A giant crocodile strayed into an Indian village creating panic among residents.

Residents of Gardhia village in Vadodara district of Gujarat called the forest department on June 23 after spotting the crocodile.

A team of officials went to the village and rescued the reptile from a pond where it had taken refuge. They put the crocodile in a cage and took it away.

Nitin Patel, a forest department official, said the crocodile was 13-feet-long and weighed 400 kg.

The reptile was later released back into the wild.
