Iran detainee Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe has been given her British passport back an MP has said.

Labour MP Tulip Siddiq tweeted on March 15: "I am very pleased to say that Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe has been given her British passport back.

"She is still at her family home in Tehran. I also understand that there is a British negotiating team in Tehran right now.

"I will keep posting updates as I get them."

Ms Zaghari-Ratcliffe was arrested at Tehran airport in 2016 and later convicted of plotting to overthrow the clerical establishment.

Footage from June 2019 shows MPs meeting Ms Zaghari-Ratcliffe's husband Richard Ratcliffe who had conducted a series of hunger strikes outside the Iranian embassy in London.

Richard Ratcliffe's hunger strike in solidarity with wife Nazanin drew to a close, politicians Frank Field, Penny Mordaunt and Mayor of London Sadiq Khan visit the protest site in front of the Iranian Embassy, Knightsbridge to show support to the couple's situation. Earlier in the day Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn visited the site and to talk with Mr. Ratcliffe and members of his family.

On Monday an early release plea was rejected by the Iranian Foreign Ministry where Mrs. Zaghari-Ratcliffe has served three out of her five year's sentence after being detained and charged with espionage.
