Passengers have been escorted from the train that fatally collided with two railway workers from near Port Talbot, Wales today (July 3).

The service from Swansea to London Paddington was halted near Margam at around 10 am when the incident occurred.

The two workers were pronounced dead at the scene and another person was treated for shock, according to British Transport Police.

Great Western Railway stated approximately 180 passengers were onboard at the time of the incident.

Train passengers rescued after railway rorkers are hit and 2 die from their injuries in Port Talbot shortly after the train left Port Talbot Parkway train station. Passengers were seen being guided from the stranded train onto tracks by emergency services.
