A group of Indonesian villagers captured a huge crocodile that had posed a danger to fishermen in the area.

Footage shows the 10-foot-long crocodile thrashing around as villagers use a makeshift equipment to drag the beast ashore near Kansai village in Riau Province on June 7.

After a long struggle the residents manage to pull the animal out of the shallow waters.

The animal was then handed over to the Natural Resources Conservation centre.

An estuary crocodile type crocodile was captured by residents of the village of Kansai, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau Province. This three meter crocodile had pounced on one of the residents who was fishing.

Residents who have long known the existence of a crocodile herd were forced to search and arrest. By using fingernails and makeshift equipment, residents managed to capture and bring crocodiles ashore and then the crocodile was handed over to the Natural Resources Conservation Center, Riau Province to be maintained at the crocodile conservation site.

This catch of crocodiles was carried out at the beginning of last June. After residents have a discussion and do a joint search. During the arrest, residents got resistance from crocodiles. But with equipment such as wood, angina rifles, the residents are crowded to attract crocodiles to the land.

It is estimated that there are still a few more crocodiles that still exist along the stream of this tributary. To avoid danger, the village government prohibits residents from carrying out activities along the river
