A journalist working in Hong Kong has filmed video footage which appears to show police miscounting the size of a large anti-government protest on Sunday.

The video shows thousands of protesters streaming past the Royal Pacific Hotel and then pans to a woman in a police jacket clicking a counting device only once every few seconds.

"I could clearly see that there were thousands of protesters down below and she was clicking so slowly on her counting device," Hong Kong-based journalist Alex Hofford told Newsflare.

Protesters in Hong Kong have frequently accused the police of deliberately underestimating the size of crowds at recent anti-government demonstrations.
