This is the frightening moment sparks flew as debris thrown by a tornado storm hit power lines in Indonesia's West Sumatra.

Eyewitness video filmed by local citizen Fadli Yahya in the village of Gadut, Agam district, at 2.45pm on Monday (July 8) shows roof panels being stripped off of roadside buildings and into overhead power lines, causing explosions and sending onlookers running for shelter. Coconut trees sway viciously in the wind.

Fadli's father Agus said: "I was standing in front of the shop, the wind was [coming] and blew the roof of the Sanjai Aisyah shop, the roof struck the electric cable, exploded, then went towards PKBM school. The roof flew up again and then exploded again."

Shocking video filmed by Fadli Yahya on Monday 02.45 p.m (July 8) shows strong winds hitting coconut trees in Gaduik, Agam district, West Sumatra province.

Strong wind suddenly spun and flew the roof of the shop Aisyah merchant souvenirs Sanjai special food, schools, and residents housing.

Debris flown by the wind hit the power cord as causing two explosions of sparks.

Meanwhile strong winds continued to move across the road and turned towards the back of the building for the video recorder.

Residents who passed around the location ran to save themselves.

Strong winds on just before heavy rain caused six buildings damaged and cut off the electricity lines.

There were no casualties in this incident, the loss was estimated at 50 million rupiah or 3.000 pounds.
