Satisfying footage from a beach in the Philippines shows numerous swarms of thimble jellyfish on Samar Island last Thursday (July 4).

Captured with an underwater drone, thousands of jellyfish can be seen together in the shallow depths as the camera pushes through the stinging creatures.

The filmer said: "We got out of the water when they started approaching the shore.

"Thimble jellyfish are the most common cause of sea bather's eruption, which is a reaction caused by the injection of juvenile jellyfish nematocysts into human skin."

The filmer later added: "I’m still trying to determine if this event is natural or anthropogenic."
