Riots broke out in Paris last night (July 11) as Algeria football fans celebrated their team's win in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Footage shows chaotic scenes near the Champs-Elysees as jubilant fans set fireworks alight and honked horns.

Flames can be seen engulfing a marquee as a passerby uses an extinguisher to douse the fire.

Riot police are deployed to stop the traffic disturbance in the area later on in the video.

Tensions ran high close to midnight when a Molotov cocktail was allegedly thrown at police as dozens of people looted stores.

Police used tear gas and rubber bullets to repel rioters, media reported.

At least one person was arrested.

Algeria reached the semifinals of the Africa Cup of Nations by beating Ivory Coast 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw.
