A desperate shopkeeper resorted to using his supplies of fizzy pop to clean the toilet after being left without water during a drought. Store owner Carlo Delos Santos from Bulacan, the Philippines, worried that their rest rooms started smelling after three days without water due to a shortage caused by droughts. Carlo went to extreme lengths - and tapped into his soda stock so the liquid could be used to rinse the bathroom toilets and sinks last month on June 26. "Good thing we have this many lemon soda. If not, we will not be able to use the toilet for the next few days," he said. Water shortage in Metro Manila and nearby towns is caused by the lowering levels of water reservoir due to drought. It is expected that the typhoon season will help with the supply in the coming months.
