When weather turns tyrant: Heavy floods triggered by massive rains wreak havoc, cripple normal life in northern India
This terrifying visual captures the moment heavy floods inundate roads, rivers and residential areas in northern India.
The incident took place near the Indo-Nepal border in Bihar state on July 11.
Incessant rainfall since the past few days has triggered flash floods in many areas of the state, causing damage to infrastructure and crippling normal life.
Locals said that massive rainfall has wreaked havoc in many areas, damaging their homes and agricultural lands.
Lashing out the government and local administration, the villagers said that they have not received any aid from the officials.
Water levels in many rivers of the state have risen above the danger mark.
According to reports, the security dams built by the villagers along an embankment near Kosi river, that flows through northern India and Nepal, collapsed due to a torrential downpour on July 11.
Several districts in Bihar along the Indo-Nepal border have been affected due to the heavy rains.
The Nepal government's department of hydrology and meteorology issued a warning on July 12 for rising water-level in rivers situated in the southern plains of the country.
Sounding alert, in its advisory, the government bodies said that the soaring water-levels could affect the districts of Muzaffarpur, West and East Champaran, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Araria and Supaul in north Bihar.
At least 15 people were killed and six others reported missing due to floods and landslides causing by torrential rains in Nepal on July 12.
