An uprooted tree fell onto parked cars as typhoon Falcon battered the Philippines this morning.

A jeepney was parked on Mazaraga street, Tatalon, Quezon City, when an old tree was blown over - crashing onto the vehicle's roof and crushing it.

Onlooker Anthony Comedia said he heard a loud noise outside when it happened.

He said: "Thankfully, no one was inside the jeepney when it happened. Empty jeepneys usually attract homeless people and they sleep inside until the owner comes especially with this kind of weather."

The tropical storm, with the international name storm Danas, made landfall in the early hours of the morning.

Falcon continues to bring wind and heavy rain over parts of the Luzon and Visayas islands throughout today.
