A father made a backpack simulating the lunar landing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing to try with his son at their home in Terrigal, Australia.

The simulator user was the puppeteer of the device, created by adding an electrical circuit to a 3D print out of the lunar lander so that an alarm sounded and a light went on when the lander tilted

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of landing on the moon this Australian Dad made a backpack lunar lander simulator to try with his adult son. Jacob Strickling 3d printed the lunar lander and then added an electrical circuit so that an alarm sounded and light went on when the lander tilted. To land the module successfully you had to control it like a puppeteer with strings and handles. To drive home the importance of landing quickly (so as not to run out of fuel) Strickling added a high voltage twist. Using an electric fence unit, kitchen timer and switch , aluminium foil, metal grate and some wires a simple circuit was installed. If the operator took too long landing the module, the timer would reach zero and they would get a (harmless) electric shock.
