Tourists And Locals Dance At Buddhist Festival
Jovial scenes show tourists and locals joining in with dancing at the annual Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival.
The event on July 17 marks the start of the Lenten period, which sees monks retreat to temples to meditate and read scriptures during the monsoon rainy season which ends at the end of September.
In Ubon Ratchathani province, the most elaborate of all the celebrations around the country sees parades of giant wax candles intricately carved with scenes from Buddhist mythology.
