A pregnant woman had to be carried six kilometres by her family and neighbours in a makeshift sling after the ambulance was unable to reach her in the village of Kothavalasa, India.

While both mother and newborn daughter are healthy, the filmer, who took the video on July 21, said the ambulance couldn't make its way to the pregnant woman due to lack of roads.

A pregnant woman named J Devi had to be carried in a sling for about 6 kms to reach the ambulance in Kothavalasa village in Vishakhapatnam district. At around 5 am in morning on July 21st when she felt a labour pain family members dialled ambulance but there is a stretch of 6 kilometers between the main road and their village and there is no roads ,the only way is of muddy path and that also become muddy and slippery due to rain so the ambulance couldnt reach to there place. So the family members and neighbours decided to carry the pregnant lady on a sling up-to the main road to shift her into the ambulance. According to Arjun Janapareddi who recorded the video said that the way to main road was fully wet and muddy.. There was incidents when people carrying the along escaped from slipping... According to local health officer the women was admitted to public health centre around 9 am and delivered a baby girl at 10:03 am.. Both mother and daughter are fine as of now ..according to Arjun this is not the rare case in village, due to lack of roads we have to face such situations.
