These bonobo apes at Twycross Zoo, Leicestershire were treated with yoghurt bottles filled with lemon and tea flavoured ice to help them cope in the heatwave.

Filmed on July 24, the apes are seen enjoying their cool treats as they battle to keep cool during the United Kingdom's recent heatwave.

The Bonobo apes from the Twycross Zoo got some yogurt bottles filled with lemon & tea flavoured ice. They try to get to it by ripping the bottle apart to get to the ice or just wait till they can drink it . Some great enrichment as they have to work out which is the best way to get to the ice. Some can't get enough and picked up as many bottles as he could. The elderly bonobos, just take their time and then you've got the young inexperienced bonobos that try to open the bottle by repeatedly jumping on it. If nothing else, it must be fun as the youngster does a couple of rolls. In the end, it looks like it actually worked as all the plastic is removed and he's left with the lolly, so not so inexperienced after all!
