Over a billion-year-old granite rock unearthed in downtown Toronto during road construction
A 1.2 to 1.5 billion-year-old granite rock has been unearthed in downtown Toronto during road construction.
Filmed today (July 26), the large granite rock is seen placed to the side of the street as roadworks continue in the background.
The Bloor Annex Business Improvement Area tweeted: "Great news! Our granite boulder will be incorporated into one of our new parkettes."
Professor Joseph Desloges from the University of Toronto thinks the rock likely travelled to Toronto after being lodged in an iceberg between 12-15,000 years ago.
