Chacma Baboons (Papio ursinus) are the largest non-human primates in southern Africa. They are highly gregarious, social animals that live in troops of about 15 to 100. This female baboon was sitting in the fork of a huge Nyala Tree on the bank of the Mphongolo River, suckling and grooming her newborn baby while a young male sat close to her. He moved a short distance away from her as she groomed her baby, before returning to her to be groomed himself.
