Owners of a geriatric tortoise which keeps attacking shoes have been left shell shocked when they found out why.
Tiny, who lives in the Rhonnda Valley in South Wales and who is thought to be at least 60 years old, started his hate campaign against footwear after the recent heatwave which hit the UK.
His owner denied that it was anything to do with malodorous feet.
"My feet smell as sweet as honeysuckle," he said.
It's thought that the spell of good weather which hit last week, could have prompted him to go on the hunt for a mate.
According to the website tortoise.org, this type of amphibian can become aggressive during mating season and could try to defend its territory.
Sadly for Tiny, who was bought in Pontypridd Market decades ago, he lives alone and is unlikely to find his significant other any time soon.
