Turner Prize nominee and artist David Shrigley has designed a kit to be worn by the Rainbow Rovers ahead of their match to celebrate the LGBTQ community.

The Rainbow Rovers were founded by transgender writer and broadcaster Sophie Cook who can be seen discussing the kit with Shrigley on July 31 at Whitehawk Football Club's ground in Brighton.

The ‘celebration of togetherness’ event is a mixed-gender football match which is being played at Whitehawk's ground on Sunday, August 4.

The ‘celebration of togetherness’ is a mixed gender football match which is being played at Brighton’s Whitehawk Football Club on PRIDE Sunday, August 4, kick off 3pm.

The kit, exclusively created by Sportswear manufacturer O’Neils, depicts a rainbow sash along the side of the shirt, and a map of the Whitehawk Estate in East Brighton, home of Whitehawk Football Club who are establishing themselves as an inclusive non-discriminatory club. LGBTQ+ were assembled by transgender writer and broadcaster, Sophie Cook who is pictured holding the shirt. David Shrigley is a long term supporter of the club and given his status in the art world decided to do something positive to support this ground-breaking game.
