A woman was rescued after riding into an uncovered drain on a road which was flooded after heavy rain.

The motorcyclist was riding through a heavy downpour on Boracay Island, the Philippines on July 24 evening.

But she failed to see an uncovered drain beneath the muddy water and plunged into the hole.

The woman, who was working as a tourist guide in the popular beach island attraction, was rescued by pedestrians who rushed to save her.

Onlooker Kimpoy Licerio said: "There was no visible sign that there was a drain. She went straight into it."

The drain was wide enough to fit her and the motorcycle she was driving. The hole was also deep that only her head was visible after falling inside.

The woman only sustained minor scratches after being rescued by security guards from nearby buildings and other employees in the area.
