Leopard knocked down by speeding truck while crossing road, succumbs to its injury hours later in central India

Reckless driving claimed the life of a stray leopard on National Highway 26 of central India.

The incident took place on Aug 4 at around 6 a.m. near Lakhnadon area of Madhya Pradesh state's Seoni district.

The big feline died four hours later.

Visual shows the injured leopard sitting on the side of an open drain, after getting knocked down.

Another footage shows police and rescue workers pulling out the animal's body from the drain.

Reports said the animal had strayed away from the forest and entered a residential area.

Villagers also reported hearing its roar in the middle of the night.

The big feline is believed to have sustained the injury while crossing the road.
