A Ukrainian scientist shows what happens when you dip a beautiful red rose into sulphuric acid.

The unusual experiment carried out in July shows a red rose being dipped and twirled in the acid.

The rose simply goes soggy at first, then starts to wilt. Eventually the rose petals are turned into a black sludge, the liquid turns dark and only the rose's stalk and leaves emerge in tact.
