This was the moment a student managed to save a woman as she tried to jump off of a building in India.

Video filmed by Dr Nitya Prakash captured the incident at Sharda Hospital in Noida in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh on August 2.

It shows the woman sitting on the ledge of the hospital terrace, threatening to jump. A fourth-year student of Sharda University, named locally as Manjot Singh, runs to her and gets hold of her arm just as she jumps. 

“Two more persons got down to the ledge and helped Singh pull up the woman hanging by his arm,” the filmer said.

Hospital officials said the woman had been admitted to the psychiatry department of the hospital. 

She had allegedly fought with her mother and then tried to end her life.

Singh studies in an engineering college run by Sharda university on the same campus.

Singh said he tried speaking to her for a few minutes from a distance. He then ran to grab her as he thought she may jump.
