Forest fires in Indonesia raze 4000 hectares of jungle

Riau Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD Riau) revealed that, fire has spread to nearly 4000 hectares of land that causes smoke in Pekanbaru Dumai, Kampar and Pelalawan.

The head of Riau's Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Edwar Sanger, said that the total land burnt from January to July 2019 reached more than 4000 hectares.

Firefighters with the military and police conducted extinction in the Kampar and Pekanbaru border areas. The fire in this area has been going on for three days. Firefighters have difficulty putting out fires because the fire spreads and is difficult to access. The weather and strong winds made the blackout effort difficult.

The team used two water pumping machines to extinguish the remaining burned land.
