Dramatic moment elderly couple fights off armed miscreants with plastic furniture in southern India
An incredible video has emerged of an elderly couple fighting off armed miscreants using plastic furniture and slippers in southern India.
The incident, recorded on CCTV cameras, took place on Aug 11 near Kadaiyam village of Tamil Nadu state's Tirunelveli district.
Visual showed the elderly man sitting on the front porch when two armed intruders attack him. One miscreant strangles the old man with a cloth and tries to subdue him, while another- brandishing a machete- tries to enter the porch.
A woman, understandably the old man's wife, opens the door after hearing the commotion and upon seeing the miscreants attacking her husband, she throws slippers at the attackers.
Even when the men manage to throw the old man on the ground, much to everyone's surprise, the couple fights back instead of giving up.
What ensures is 45 seconds of thrilling encounter with the machete-armed miscreants and the couple, who throw everything at the men that were at their disposal.
Identified as Shanmugavel, 70 and Senthamarai, 65, the couple fended the machete-wielding miscreants by using a chair.
Shanmugavel was even seen upping the ante and attacking the miscreants and successfully managing to repel them.
