Leopard battling for life after being hit by speeding motorist near tea estate in eastern India
In yet another man-animal conflict, a leopard was knocked down by a speeding motorist near a tea estate in eastern India's West Bengal state.
The incident took place on Aug. 19 near Dalgaon Tea Estate, located in Falakata region of the state's Jalpaiguri district.
Visual showed the injured big cat lying in a ditch on the side of the road.
Another footage showed forest officials using nets to capture and rescue the animal.
Reports said the incident happened at around 9:15 am when the leopard was crossing the road.
The biker could not control the vehicle on the slippery road and hit the animal.
Officials said the leopard sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.
In a similar incident, which took place earlier this month in central India's Madhya Pradesh state, a leopard died after being hit by a truck.
