A video has emerged of a landslide near a mountain region in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

Visuals of the same show a giant boulder falling off from a cliff at National Highway-3 (NH-3) region in Kullu town's picturesque Sainj Valley.

NH-3, between Manali and Kullu was partially damaged due to severe landslides in the area.

The landslide disrupted road traffic and commuters were stranded along the NH-3 motorway for very long hours.

Video shows people stranded at the highway capturing the landslide moment on their mobile phones.

Heavy rains have wreaked havoc in the state for the past few days, throwing life out of gear.

Many highways including, Hindustan-Tibet NH-5, Chandigarh-Manali NH-3, have been damaged to the landslides.

More than 25 people were killed and over 100 others rescued to safer areas.

Apart from Kullu, landslides were reported from Shimla, Bilaspur and Solan districts.

Falling boulders along the national highways have become a cause of concern as they are posing threat to the safety of commuters.

In Himachal Pradesh, 21 landslide-prone points have been identified and it has come to light that most of these points located along the national highways across the state are maintained by the government of India.

Landslide is the most common hazard in the state and almost every year Himachal Pradesh gets affected by one or more major landslides causing loss of life and damage to houses, agricultural fields, roads and infrastructure.
