Wild elephant destroys three houses while scrounging for food in east India

This frightening visual captures the moment an injured wild elephant strayed into a residential area near the jungles in eastern India.

The incident took place on Aug. 21 at Dalgaon forest area in West Bengal state's Alipurduar district.

Video shows the tusker strolling at the residential area as panic-stricken locals watched on.

According to reports, the pachyderm entered the residential area near Dalmoney Tea Garden in search of food.

It was blind from one eye, stated reports.

The tusker spent around three hours in the area before returning to the forests.

It destroyed nearly three houses in the area.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

There have been many similar instances reported in the past of elephants straying into residential areas and triggering chaos.

Earlier on Aug. 7, a wild pachyderm entered a residential area near Ghrita Kham village of the state's Jhargram district.

Visual showed the pachyderm wandering inside the village while people tried to drive it away.

The adult male elephant was also seen satiating its hunger by eating straws used to cover the roof of a residential house.

Video also the elephant being chased away by villagers, who grew tensed about the pachyderm's presence.

Fortunately, no one was hurt during the incident.
