This is the moment a 10-year-old leg-spin bowler produced a perfect delivery to catch WG Grace's statue out at the home of cricket.

Filmed on August 16, the leggie named Finley Higgs fires a tricky delivery to the statue, seeing the ball bounce off the statue's bat-pad straight into the outstretched right-hand of family friend Philip Marshall, who happened to be standing at short leg.

The unlikely moment was captured outside Lord's cricket ground during England's second Ashes Test match against Australia. It quickly went viral when Marshall posted it on Twitter and has been approvingly commented on by ex-England captain Michael Vaughan and Australian spinner Adam Zampa.

Antony Higgs, Finley's dad and the filmer, told Newsflare: "It was a totally impromptu moment that I managed to capture of Finley bowling to WG Grace. What happened next was completely off the cuff.

"Phil just happened to be standing at ‘short leg’ and only realised there was a chance for a catch when it actually hit the bat and flew in the air!"

WG Grace was a former England cricket captain who is considered one of the best to ever play the game due to his expertise with the ball and bat.

Another clip shows Finley in the nets showing off his skills with willow in hand at a batting simulator at Lord's.

"Finley has been playing cricket since he could walk really," dad Antony explains. "He started bowling leggies after I took him to a Test Match between England and Pakistan, also at Lord's, where [Pakistan's] Yasir Shah was bowling. It was all quite by accident really - he certainly has not learned from me!

"Finley is now the most successful member of the family to ‘play’ at Lords. His grandad played there in 1988 in the National Club Cricket Championship final, but the game was rained off before he participated. I played there in 2007 for the MCC and managed a total of one run. So to have taken a wicket there outperforms both of us!"

He is also pictured with current England cricket captain Joe Root and further images show when Finley, aged 3, first picked up a bat and ball.
