Katsura Sunshine, "Rakugo" comic storyteller speaks at FCCJ
August 22, 2019, Tokyo, Japan - Rakugo comic storyteller Katsura Sunshine speaks during a news conference at The Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan. Sunshine, who has performed rakugo in some 15 countries around the world visited the Club to announced his debut at the New World Stages complex in New York on September 19, as a 3.5-month show. The Rakugo is 400-year-old traditional Japanese art of comic storytelling and Sunshine is the second-ever foreigner rakugo storyteller in the history of Japan. He has been awarded by the Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for his work.
