Crocodile ventures out of overflowing dam, enters residential area, triggering panic among locals in central India

Heavy rains resulting in floods have taken a toll on animal lives besides human beings.

Along with flood-like situation, torrential downpour also results in infiltration by crocodiles, who enter residential areas to seek refuge from the deluge.

A video has emerged of a crocodile straying into a residential area, panicking people in central India.

The incident took place on Aug. 24 near the Institute for Excellence in Higher Education at Yashoda Vihar Colony in Madhya Pradesh's capital city Bhopal.

Video shows the giant reptile crawling into the residential area, frightening the residents.

Reports suggest that the crocodile ventured out of the overflowing Kaliyasot Dam and entered the residential areas.

Police reached the spot after being informed by the locals. They searched the entire area but could not find the crocodile.

According to reports, more than 80 people have been killed in Madhya Pradesh due to torrential rains.

Several visuals and images of crocodiles straying into residential areas amid incessant rains have been widely circulated on social media these days.
