This is the bizarre moment a huge ceramic pot in northeast Thailand was seen floating down a flooded road after heavy rain caused by Typhoon Podul.

The enormous jug, used for storing water, was lifted up from its base after villages were flooded in Ubon Ratchathani, Sunday morning (September 8).

Baffled local Supawadee Chanchit spotted the large pot as it floated past her house.

The housewife said: ''I was cleaning the mess from the storm in front of my house when I saw the pot being carried away by the floodwater.

''I thought it was funny to see it floating alone like that. I filmed it because I want the owner to realise that their precious pot was missing and coming in my direction.''

Large parts of northern Thailand have been flooded over the last week after Tropical Storm Podul hit the region with heavy rain.

Thousands of people have been evacuated following the torrential flooding which is still yet to subside in many parts.

The Prime Minister, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, is to visit Yasothon and Ubon Ratchathani provinces tomorrow.

The Prime Minister earlier instructed officials to assist those affected, provide machines and flat-bottom boats and set up temporary shelters and royally-bestowed mobile kitchens.

He had instructed the officials to prepare measures to make housing and career programs available after the situation is restored. He said the government will continue to address the flood situation in a comprehensive manner.
