London's Chinese community prepare for upcoming Mid-Autumn festival

London's Chinatown is preparing for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival by decorating the main shopping areas with strings of colourful red lanterns.

Footage filmed on September 10 shows baked goods and other decorations also being prepared.

This East Asian harvest festival is always held during the eighth month of the lunar year when the moon is as its fullest at night. This year celebrations take place on the Friday September 12.

Moon cake is tradionally eaten during this time of year and shoppers were observed buying tins of sweet treats for family gatherings.
