Choreographer Jacqulyn Buglisi’s “The Table of Silence Project 9/11” returns to Lincoln Center Plaza in New York City on Tuesday, Sept. 11, for the eighth consecutive year to commemorate the lives that were lost in the 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States.

The performance, which is part dance and part prayer ritual, features more than 150 dancers dressed entirely in white, a solo flute, a tympani, meditation bells and the blowing of a conch shell.

The site-specific work was inspired by artist Rossella Vasta’s installation of 100 ceramic white plates, meant to symbolize and promote tolerance, equality, acceptance and peace.
