Brazilian Amazon rainforests are not the only conservation areas in South America currently burning.

Drone footage, filmed near the town of Charagua in southern Bolivia on August 30, shows the immense destruction in Guarani Nation Ecological Conservation Area. It is the area most recently designated a conservation site by the Government.

Recent vicious wildfires has destroyed hectares of forest, according to reports.

Filmer Abbot Miranda explains: “The fire reached the Nembi Guasu park, which is the youngest ecological conservation area in Bolivia, of the Guarani Nation, with only a few months of its declaration.”

It has been reported that according to officials, two million hectares of forest have been destroyed by Bolivia’s wildfires since August.

Civic groups in Santa Cruz de la Sierra - the most affected region - have demanded that the Government declare a national emergency, reports say.
