This is the thrilling moment a speedboat bounced through choppy seas as it raced to the shore to avoid an approaching storm.

The vessel had been taking tourists sightseeing around the Phi Phi island in Krabi, southern Thailand, yesterday (September 15) afternoon when grey skies formed overhead.

The fearless captain powered through the choppy seas as his vessel jumped in the air as it raced to escape the storm.

Captain Rachan Tuankupong, 23, was on board the speedboat from where the video was filmed.

He said: "The footage appears dangerous, but me and my colleagues know very well which storm that we should avoid.

"The storm we faced that day was not the worst but it was better to race the tourists back to the shore."
