Georgia, Batumi, Ali and Nino - The Statue of Love
Standing seven meters high above Batumi’s boulevard, is a steel structure depicting a man and woman. This, however, is no ordinary sculpture. After 19:00, it rotates every ten minutes and merges to become one, whilst illuminated in vibrant color. Named ‘Ali and Nino’, this Batumi highlight was designed by Tamar Kvesitadze. It is based on a tragic Georgian story similar to that of Romeo and Juliet where a young man from Azerbaijani falls for a Georgian Princess.
