A handicapped peddler is forced to cross Mactan bridge on foot instead of biking
Recently, the Mactan-Cebu Bridge Management Board announced that cyclists would be barred from riding their bikes across the Mactan-Mandaue bridge, between Lapu-Lapu and Cebu City. Lapu-Lapu is where the Cebu International Airport is located. Bikers, even disabled, must now dismount and walk across the bridge. The Bridge authority further announced that pedestrians would be barred from using the bridge from 1 to 5 AM. The reason for these measures varies, but the initial reason given was to reduce suicides on the bridge, other officials alleging instead that the bridge has the status of a "highway".
