The Metro Machinists Union demonstration in the center of Madrid
The Metro Machinists Union has called a demonstration for this Thursday, September 19, 2019 with which they seek to “denounce the current situation of Metro” and in which they will demand a “quality public transport” with a greater investment that allows them to correct the deficit of machinists and trains. The mobilization has the title ‘Defense of public transport as a social right’ and will run from Plaza de Cibeles to Puerta del Sol from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Among the deficiencies that they want to explain is a depleted number of machinists, "the lowest number in history", which, according to their figures, is around 1,500 workers out of 2,000 who consider essential for the proper functioning of the suburban.
