Professional footballers in West Sumatra in Indonesia are continuing to train despite the haze from forest fires which still hangs over much of the region.

Footage shot on Friday showed Semen Padang FC training in Padang City with thick smog visible in the skies above the training ground.

Head coach Eduardo Almeida from Portugal said he would respect the decision of the sporting authorities over whether upcoming games could continue

Haze of forest fire in Riau and Jambi provinces began to have an impact on professional soccer clubs in Padang City, West Sumatra Province. The Padang Cement FC team began to complain about the haze that shaded them while training and playing. Unhealthy air can have a bad impact on players who need a lot of clean air intake during exercise and play.

Padang cement FC head coach Eduardo almeida said he could not do much about this. Interrupted by the Indonesian league 1 competition that kept rolling, they still had to hold training in a blanket of smog, in order to prepare the team for the next match.
